A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the vehicle.The term most commonly refers to hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which combine an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors. However, other mechanisms to capture and use energy are included. ------------------------------------------------------ As many of you know by now, I work on cars for a living and every now and then I can actually incorporate job related things to the Gospel. Well heres one of those times... (For those who have the ears to hear.) A Hybrid car uses two or more systems to power the vehicle, it usually alternates between electric and gas, now without getting real detailed or deep about how these vehicles operate, I would like to compare a hybrid vehicle to a hybrid human, yes you read that right, a hybrid human. First lets see an example of a hybrid human in action in the bible... ---------------------------------------------------------- Mark 5 New Living Translation (NLT) 5 So they arrived at the other side of the lake, in the region of the Gerasenes. 2 When Jesus climbed out of the boat, a man possessed by an evil spirit came out from a cemetery to meet him. 3 This man lived among the burial caves and could no longer be restrained, even with a chain. 4 Whenever he was put into chains and shackles—as he often was—he snapped the chains from his wrists and smashed the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Day and night he wandered among the burial caves and in the hills, howling and cutting himself with sharp stones. 6 When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him. 7 With a shriek, he screamed, “Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In the name of God, I beg you, don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had already said to the spirit, “Come out of the man, you evil spirit.” 9 Then Jesus demanded, “What is your name?” And he replied, “My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.” 10 Then the evil spirits begged him again and again not to send them to some distant place. 11 There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding on the hillside nearby. 12 “Send us into those pigs,” the spirits begged. “Let us enter them.” 13 So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of about 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water. ------------------------------------------------------ So here you have a man, who is being controlled by another source of power within him, just as a hybrid car uses two sources to power it, this man also was being powered by an alternative source... What was this source? It was a legion of demons.... So, we as human beings are spirits housed in a body, the body is called a vessel, just as a car is a vessel and transports us around in the world, so also do our bodies transport our spirits around. So when a human being is controlled by demons, you now have another force within the vessel that is capable of producing power to drive that vessel in its desired direction and you have now become a Hybrid Human. After the Legion of demons where removed from this man, he was again a single powered human being, or was he?... Well as a Christian, we too have a second power source within our vessel, it is the Holy Spirit. ---------------------------------------------------------- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20New Living Translation (NLT) 19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. ----------------------------------------------------------- Yes even as a born-again Christian you are a hybrid human. The truth is we are all hybrids, those who are housed by the spirits of the world and those who are housed by the Holy Spirit.... Now of course this is all the spiritual aspect, but there is also a genetic aspect to all of this, but for that you will need to listen to this message by Gary Price called Hybrids.
