A idea whose time has come ... basically, it means choosing to not produce more homo sapiens, because there are far too many already. 7 billion now and another 2 to 4 billion by 2050. Far more than the carrying capacity of the Earth. Human beings born now and anytime this century risk suffering all the worst effects of climate change, and many will have to compete for scarce resources. We are the cause of the sixth and worst mass extinction of species. Every human -- even a vegan -- displaces and takes away resources from other life forms (though not as much as a meat-eater). Why should our species ruin it for all the others? Yes, there is a strong biological urge to reproduce, but some people have chosen to not do so anyway, for these reasons. For many not having kids is an ethically motivated decision.
