A joint stewards and veterinary investigation by Racing Victoria has confirmed that Japanese stayer Admire Rakti died of natural causes in the aftermath of this year’s Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m). A post-mortem examination completed by the University of Melbourne revealed that that the Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup (2400m) winner’s death was caused by heart failure, with further testing providing no evidence to support anything other than the initial diagnosis.
