A jump forward to the mid 12th C. A Chanson attributed to Blondel - TopicsExpress

A jump forward to the mid 12th C. A Chanson attributed to Blondel de Nesles, who probably didnt actually exist, but hey.. The harp has 19 strings ( a range that has become a modern convention, but with little historical evidence to support it) is based on 12th C sources, and made by my dear friend Alice Margerum, who makes the best mediaeval harps in the market. I do not claim that my performance is anything but a conjectural attempt to perform a historical piece in what i consider to be a credible form. We have no actual information about how harps were played or used, or even strung at this period, so we are all groping in the dark, and doing the best we can.
