A jury took about a day and a half to acquit a former Douglas County Sheriffs Office EMT implicated in the 2009 death of a Carroll County man while he was an inmate. Kelli Marie Brown, 44, of Douglasville was found not guilty Friday on a manslaughter charge. Jurors will return Monday to continue deliberating the fate of former jail nurse, 40-year-old Stephanie Evans, who is facing two counts of involuntary manslaughter. The jury asked to re-watch a portion of the jail video showing Browns interactions with inmate Rodney Graham the morning before his death. The not guilty verdict for Brown was handed down at about 4:30 pm. She was facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if found guilty. She was represented by Douglasville attorney Frank Winn. Im happy for Kelli, Winn said. I never felt like this was a case that should have been in criminal court as far as either one of them were concerned so Im pleased the jury found her not guilty.
