A lady came up to me multiple times today to chew me out for working on behalf of marriage equality. Finally after two debates about the morality of it she left and then came back, while I was talking to two girls who wanted to get involved, and proceeded to harass them about getting involved. She asked: If you own a bakery and didnt want to make a gay couple a wedding cake, because youre religiously opposed to gay marriage, should you be sued? When the girls said no she proceeded to go even further to humiliate them for even thinking of trying to help with the cause. Finally I snapped and asked her: What if it were a black couple? Or an interracial marriage? Should they be sued? She told me it was fine because this was about religion. I responded: So was that. Religion was a crux argument in both cases, and on both accounts religion was wrong. Flustered she proceeded to ask: Who freed the slaves? Of course I told her it was a group effort on multiple individuals and the issue that caused our own nation to go to war with itself. She shook her head and said: No. It was the Christians. I shook my head and said: It was also the Christians who put them in bondage. She scoffed, told me to do my research and stormed off. Talk about toxic.
