A lady friend of mine wanted to hook me up with one of her - TopicsExpress

A lady friend of mine wanted to hook me up with one of her friends. I didn’t like the idea but I didn’t have any plans for Friday night, so I figured why not? I decided to take her to “The Lodge” in Cloudcroft, to listen to a band called “2 Shots Down.” An hour before I had to pick her up, she called to tell me there was a family emergency and would meet me up there! I didn’t ask her what the emergency was; I figured it was none of my business? I got to the “Lodge” and the band was “Rocking the Red Dog!” I ordered a Corona with lime and tried to make it last until she got there? Not wanting to just sit there, and having spotted some Texas looking ladies, all by their lonesome, I decided to ask them to dance. I didn’t want to upset my date, so I kept the dances lively and not too close and personal? By my second beer, I figured she wasn’t going to come, and invited them to my table. Just before the band’s first break, my cell phone, inside my front left shirt pocket, started vibrating? “You’re not going to answer that are you?” she asked, enjoying the closeness of the slow song and who know maybe the vibration as well? “No.” I said. Not wanting to spoil the mood being created. After the song was over, the band stopped playing, saying there would be short break and they would be right back. I took her back to the table and after a few sips of beer, both ladies decided to go to the “Ladies” room and freshen up. I ordered them both a beer, since they were having $3 beer specials all night long. I then checked my “Missed Calls” and saw that it was my friend that had set me up for the evening? I was at the table by myself. I figured it wouldn’t hurt, so I called her back. “I just called to let you know that she won’t be showing up tonight.” Was the first thing she said, after a nervous, “Hello.” “I figured that.” I replied. “Is everything okay?” “No.” she said. “That’s why I called.” “What happened?” “She got a call from her daughter a few hours ago, telling her that the Police and the Child Protection Agency were at her daughter’s house trying to take her new born baby away, and for her to come there immediately and put a stop to it?” I didn’t like the sound of the situation they were in, but I didn’t know all the facts, so I just sat there, took a long drink and listened. “When she got there, she saw one Officer trying to take her grandchild away from her daughter to give to the Children Protection Agency while the other Officer was trying to arrest her!” “Doesn’t sound good,” I said. “She got out of her truck yelling and cursing both of the Officers on her way to them. One Officer was trying to stop her daughter from hitting him and get her handcuffed while the other one was holding the new born baby. They both told her to stop and settle down. She yelled at the Officers to leave her daughter alone and give her the baby! When they didn’t stop, she hit both Officers! She then tried to take the baby away from the young Officer and when he wouldn’t let go, she kicked him in the groin?” “Ouch!” I said, trying not to laugh. “So I’m calling, to let you know they both got arrested?” She said. “I’m sorry to hear that,” I said. “Thanks for letting me know?” I was ready to hang up and continue the evening, the best that I could, under the circumstances. But she… wasn’t done talking? “Is there any way you can come down,” she said. “And help me bail them out?”
