A lady in Back Care Pilates asked me today what other classes I - TopicsExpress

A lady in Back Care Pilates asked me today what other classes I did, so told her about Fitball and the Thursday intermediate session...now, I am not sure if I have done the right thing! To my mind, they are all very different. Back Care is a fab introduction to Pilates and teaches you all the basics about getting the core to fire and understanding how it feels to control the abs to hold you in position as well as look at what is known as movement patterning (ie, when you have had a bad back for over 6 weeks, your body forgets how to move correctly), then Fitball - what a laugh. It is like being a kid again, and giggling when you cant stay on the ball, on the other hand, it makes the core work so hard! you never get anyone in class saying they didnt feel it - mad. But also quite tough, because if you dont have good core strength it is challenging. Then Thursday, the class, nearest to my heart, the closest to the original Pilates teaching methods with sequencing, hard postures (including each week one I hate) to make you uber strong, flexible and fluid. this is what Pilates is all about. To my mind, you should do at least one month in Back Care and then try the others - but, those of you out there who do this, let me know what you think! I would love to teach an evening Pilates in the Sports Hall - we can easily get 30 in a lunchtime class and think that we could double that in an evening session....I 3> Pilates, tell me what you love about it xx
