A leader can explain an issue politely to an adversary. Ted Cruz said, “We know that some in our political process have a desire to exploit that tragic, violent incident for agendas that have nothing to do with that young man who lost his life,” he said. “We have seen an effort to undermine the verdict of the jury and, more broadly, to inflame racial tensions that I think are sad an irresponsible.” While some race-obsessed pundits claim that self-defense laws are somehow biased against minorities, the Tea Party-backed senator destroyed their tenuous argument. He even mentioned the fact that “a state senator in Illinois by the name of Barack Obama” supported similar legislation in 2004. Ted Cruz reminds me of JFK.
