A lesson in economics: Heres another example of how market competition, when allowed to operate sans political controls and help, sans regulations and govt payments, sees a service DECREASE in price, and become more easily acquired. While I was waiting for a George Carlin vid to play, Youtube offered an ad for UltraTherapy, a cosmetic procedure that uses ultrasound units (like you see at physical therapy, not visualization ultrasound) to smooth wrinkles, etc. The tech is interesting, but less interesting to me than the steady decrease in cost and increase in availability. As opposed to many other kinds of procedures, UltraTherapy usually has not been covered by insurance, so the people who get it pay out of their own pockets -- meaning they shop for the best deal and the competitive market incentivizes the providers to try to decrease costs and increase competitive strength. As a result, something that was reported on three years ago as expensive is now available for lower cost, to more people, and at less risk than that insane cutting. I could care less about the procedure, except for the interest in the science. As Carlin says, why not recognize that we all grow old? BUT, if someone prefers to do something to think they look younger, why not see how the market helps bring things to people at lower and lower prices? https://youtube/watch?v=D6iALHgXjTQ
