A letter of appreciation from the Cobb County Chief Deputy Sheriff.... Greetings, On March 24th Deputies Hampton and Hargraves were eating lunch in Paulding County awaiting to work a part-time job in Cobb. During their lunch, they were notified by a citizen that someone had just been shot. Deputies Hargraves and Hampton exited the business and encountered the suspect in the parking lot holding an object. Our deputies challenged the suspect, identified the object as a cell phone and was able to place the individual in custody. Just a few minutes earlier, the suspect had just committed a murder at a business across the parking lot. Paulding County Authorities arrived and took over the crime scene and located the dead victim with what appeared to be several gun shots to the head and body. The investigation revealed this was a Domestic situation involving a Paulding County TPO which ended tragically. Deputies Hampton and Hargraves are to be commended for their quick action and response by arresting the suspect before he was able to get away. Thank you Deputies Hampton and Hargraves for doing what you are called to do, although in another jurisdiction and during a time you thought you could grab a quick bite to eat, you responded without hesitation….Job Well Done!
