A letter to the Friends of Freeport from Town of Hempstead Supervisor, Kate Murray: Dear Friends of Freeport, Congratulations! It is my great pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as a winner of the 2014 Make A Difference Award based on your extraordinary selfless nature and volunteer activities within the Town of Hempstead. The response I received from residents to my letter requesting nominations was overwhelming. Obviously, the spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in Hempstead Town, and I am very proud of the many exceptional deeds performed by my fellow citizens on a purely voluntary basis. The Town will be hosting a very special ceremony at Town Hall in the Nathan L. H. Bennett Pavilion on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 7:00 pm to honor you and the other Make A Difference Award winners.
