A letter to the visva-Bharati Alumni Association from Prof. Barsanjit Mazumder To The President VBAA Dear Sir This is for your information that I am resigning from the current VBAA as of today (August 29th 2014). The following points constitute the rationale for my decision. 1. I do not want to surrender my right to express my opinion if it is against the administration of VB. I believe the recent cluster of incidence shows clear destructions of the inherent moral of Visva-Bharati. I am feeling ashamed that the administration of this University is showing an approach to cover up the incidence by discouraging the tortured girl to sick justice and accept the route of fixing the matters with unjustified compromise. This administration has lost the credibility and they are equally responsible and they should be hold accountable for the obstruction of justice. Recently I noticed that there is an attempt to convey a general message that no member of VBAA should criticize the administration and express opinion in public forum if it is not consistent with the administration. This is totally unacceptable to me. Yes, I cannot keep my mouth shut just because I am a so-called selected member of VBAA. 2. This committee was formed by the administration (yes, I was one of them). The understanding at the beginning was it will be soon transformed to an elected body by the ex-students and employee and there will be a major initiative to achieve that goal. Unfortunately I have not noticed any significant initiative to form a democratically elected body. Please be advised that my decision is not based on any personal issue against any individual member of VBAA or any other vested interest. I will appreciate if you could accept my resignation.
