A life with chickens. A life with chickens can drive you mad . Its sometimes funny and its sometimes sad. Their Tails are held high and theres sun in the sky, Their tails are low yet there is no reason why. Then all of a sudden there is hell of a row, you run out in your slippers thinking what the hell now. You get to the run wet feet and heart pounding, thats when you realise it was the egg alarm sounding. Then comes the day where everything is going well, the sun is out and there is not a sound. You look over at your chooks with a smile on you face, then once again your heart starts to race . There lies a chicken you are sure is dead, there is no other explanation for the way its holding its head. So once again youre on the run, to see if theres anything that can be done and just as you get there all out go breath, The chicken clucks and raises its head. Nothing to see here you may as well go, she was sunning herself silly human dont you know. You spend hours watching to make sure theyre ok, you lose hours and hours watching them play. They make you laugh and they make you cry, they even make you wonder why. There will come that day though when you chicken is poorly and you go to the vet they will sort it out surely . Out comes your chicken your vet takes a look, then looks at you and says I dont know a lot about chooks But this chicken is poorly keep her quiet . Take her home and watch her diet . You leave the room and pay your bill! all the while your chickens still ill. You have no idea why or what to do, so home you go and make a brew. To DTL you must go with your quest, to find out what is wrong and what to do best. But people be aware they will have you checking her poo, then comes the crop and the wattles too. They keep asking questions and help you through, until diagnosed and you know what to do. Then comes the evening its time to lock up , the chickens have settled not even a cluck , You close up the pop holes and lock up the runs, the night time shift has just begun. You check for a fox and check theres no rats, then head back to the house its time to relax. A life with chickens can drive you mad , but being without them well that would be sad ......
