A little La Cocina De Balam HIstory -- The Story Edwin came to Santa Fe years ago from Guatemala. From the beginning he has been a generous guide, friend and teacher for many. He opened the Cocina months ago -- with much success. the locals loved it, (edwin offers a 10 meal card for pay in advance deep discount on multicourse meals.) The tourists began to find it, and the musicians, artists and local creative healers and thinkers had found a new hangout for creativity to blossom - and it did. Business was booming when the local authorities came in and - with respect - shut the place down due to failure to meet construction codes. Undaunted Edwin gathered all his resources and attracted additional seed money from investors. The interior has been totally remodeled, entirely new kitchen, handicap accessible restroom, back patio, seating for 45, perfomance space and gallery space for applied art. The vision of La Cocina De Balam is to provide a safe and nourishing place for colleagues, friends and allies to meet and support one another and yourSelves.
