A little about these 3 countries- Morocco has the Berber and French heritage. The Berbers are nomads but incredibly artistic. The French came in and spent Billions on creating new portions of the towns using great architects while preserving the old. So, even the new sections are wonderful, designed terrificly. Western Sahara was Spanish, has little mineral wealth. The Spanish did little and just left in the 50s. There is little of value architecturally. Just kick back kind of places. Mauritania was French, has lots of mineral wealth. The French did little here. it is the home of the Moors. In the 60s there was a civil war between the black Moors and the white Moors .Hundreds of thousands of black Moors were killed. The Moors are also a nomatic people but are not very artistic. BUT they have great robes! I bought one and perhaps a picture might appear of me in it. They have had the same dictator since 2008 and he has brought some stability to the country. He has also brought some financial security here while getting BILLIONS for himself. The slavery thing is not apparent and no one will talk about it.
