A little background on our band... Quantum Mekanics was born as a concept back in the late 90’s. High school friends, Richard Foss and Adrian Gourley, began penning psychedelic rhymes over rudimentary mpc2000 beats and samples. Inspired by the cross-pollination aesthetic of the era and rock/rap fusion of bands like Beastie Boys, 311 and Rage Against the Machine, they became acolytes of lyrical craftsmanship and rookie performers. A bit rough around the edges, the lyrics were nevertheless created with intent, delivered with intensity and ultimately held enough staying power to fertilize growth from those humble roots. In 2012, after a few failed starts, the missing puzzle pieces finally came together to form a musical Voltron and Quantum Mekanics became fully realized. Ditching the sampler, the rhythm section became the duties of Brendan Gourley on Bass and Calvin Hammond on Drums. Brendan, a veteran guitarist with almost 2 decades under his belt, had been playing with Adrian and Richard for years and was the driving force behind much of the songwriting and production process. Working together with Calvin, a seasoned rhythm master and songwriter in his own right, allowed their independent ideas to blossom into a collaboration - the whole better than the sum of its parts. Rounding out the outfit, Troy Tuggle joined up as lead guitarist, incorporating a much needed lead component to the mid-range along with valuable experience from playing in other bands. Adrian and Richard have maintained their positions as duo front men, separated by body, joined by voice and tag teaming the same catchy, psychedelic, sci-fi style they crafted at the start. Quantum Mekanics initial body of work takes on a Metal Rock/Rap aesthetic but as the band evolves, the sound is maturing into a melting pot of genres and style. They deliver a sound that resonates with the mainstream but never loses it’s underground appeal.
