A little bit back there were some concerns expressed regarding the level of crime in Irricana. I do not wish to at all minimize the unfortunate situation of the people who have been affected by a crime, but I also wish to assure everyone that Irricana has a lower rate of crime than the big city. I contacted the RCMP and got statistics from them. They said I was welcome to publish them, but I should mention they have not been audited yet. Somebody mentioned that they were safer living in Forest Lawn than in Irricana, so I will use Forest Lawn for my comparisons. The stats are not broken down exactly the same way, so not all comparisons can be made directly, but I will give a couple of examples. I am attaching both the Irricana and Calgary crime stats for anyone who wishes to download them for more details. A couple of notable stats. Theft of Motor Vehicle. Irricana 2013 Full Year (5) Forest Lawn Full Year (55) Forest Lawn December Only (7) Break and Enter. Irricana 2013 Full Year (5) Forest Lawn Full Year (88) Forest Lawn December Only (5) It would seem from these numbers that 1 year of Irricana Crime is equal to 1 month of Inner City Crime. According to the RCMP officer I spoke to, the majority of issues in town are domestic related or conflicts between neighbours/friends. We have a very low rate of non-targeted random crime. Please remember to report all crimes to the RCMP and if you wish to get more involved with crime prevention look into the Beiseker Citizens On Patrol as they also do patrols in Irricana. https://facebook/BeisekerCOP
