A little depressed this morning a after reading about 4 cyclist in 3 separate accidents being hit by cars. Two of the people were hit while in a designated bike lane by a drunk driver. Even more depressing is reading through the comments, and the overall hate by motorist of cyclist. Bikes have the right to be on the road, yet at the same time I see so many cyclist blatantly ignoring red lights, stop signs and other rules of the road.No wonder drivers dont like cyclist. Maryland made texting and talking on cell phones illegal, yet no one seems to care or be abiding by the law.Too many distractions. Regardless of the rights of cyclist to be on the road, Ive become afraid to be there. Maybe I just need to put on my big boy bike shorts and deal with it, I dont know. I used to love to ride my road bike. A Sunday morning ride with friends was an awesome way to start the day. I just cant get excited about my road bike right now, and that truly makes me sad. Please if you ride, obey the traffic laws and be careful. If you drive, please dont text and talk on your phone, and pay a little more attention when you are behind the wheel.
