A little disappointed, to say the least, that I pick up my children from school and ask them if they talked about 9/11 and the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, at school today...(of course, expecting a resounding, Yes, followed by detailed conversation), only to hear them both respond, No maam. This saddens me. It was such a pivotal point in history...our US history!! To not even acknowledge the fact that it was a mere 13 yrs ago, and how it impacted every one of us that remembers living through that day, is not ok with me. What is wrong with our country?? Im not even blaming it on the school! We shouldve had a National Moment of Silence, across our nation, at the time of impact, in remembrance of all the lives lost and the thousands of lives that were changed that day AND for the loss of our freedom. :o( After explaining 9/11 to the kids, they were curious...asking questions...wanting to watch videos and learn about what happened. And, so, we will! I know its our job, as parents, to teach our kids as much as we can. But, may we never forget to teach them what has been fought for, even when our nations system falls short in doing so. At least by explaining and instilling the importance of this day to our children, they will realize the sacrifices made...the lives lost, so we may live the lives we live...And maybe, just maybe, it will allow the honor to those who have suffered loss, for our freedom, to live on and never be taken for granted. God bless us, all, and God Bless the USA.
