A little history lesson: If you’re a basketball fan, then you know how big an inspiration Michael Jordan was to one Kobe Bean Bryant. There’s been numerous video mash-ups of their identical moves, MJ himself has gone on record to claim that Kobe stole nearly everyone of his pump-fakes, up and unders, and fade-aways – and to some extent, Kobe continued to play to chase Mike’s name on the all-time scoring list as well as his championship count. But the two could’ve played on the same team together? No way. That’s what Kobe said recently, as he referred to his feud with Shaq in the early aughts and his pending free-agency decision potentially turning sour with the Lakers. Mike was a Washington Wizard at the time, and next to recruiting Kobe to sign with Jordan Brand, he also wanted The Black Mamba to to move to Washington DC. Most of the stories involved Kobe ditching the Lakers to play for the Clippers of Bulls, but the Wizards doesn’t seem so outlandish when you start to think about it. Kobe said that Mike’s mentorship played a big roll in considering the move. Seeing the mentor work with the student would’ve truly been something, especially if you consider the Jordan PE possibilities for Kobe throughout his career. It’s one of the more surprising what-ifs in recent memory.
