A little known fact about coonhounds. Although once bred to tree raccoons in the middle of the night, the breed has elevated its hunting instinct and now coonhounds are best known for their ability to hunt out the softest places to sleep in the house. Case in point: Elvis. One week ago Elvis had never been in a house. He has adapted to house dog status very quickly and has used his remarkable skills to locate both the couch pillows and my bed and claim them as official soft spots. Once a coonhound has located said prey, he will lay on that soft spot for hours to make sure it is not lost or taken over by other dogs or humans. And just try to move him when he gives you those puppy dog hound eyes. :). Elvis is scheduled to be neutered on 7/30 and will be available for adoption shortly after that.
