A little lesson in etiquette … The phrase RSVP comes from the French expression répondez sil vous plaît, meaning please respond. If RSVP is requested it means the invited guest should have the courtesy of informing the host whether or not they plan to attend. It does not mean to respond only if youre coming, and it does not mean respond only if youre not coming … the expression “regrets only” is reserved for that instance. So there it is. Oh how times are a’changin’!
