A little long but very sweet excerpt on love from Elizabeths email this week: This week has been really awesome. Ive had a lot of great spiritual experiences. We were at a lesson with an investigator that has a baptism date for the 23rd of this month. He is really awesome, and loves having us over. We watched The Restoration movie at his house last night. After the movie was over, we talked a little bit more about Joseph Smith. Hermana San Juan bore her testimony. It was a really simple, sweet, short testimony, but it was very powerful. I felt a wave a good emotions hit me as she bore her testimony, and I was almost in tears. That was a really great experience for me, as proof that a testimony doesnt need to be really elegant or grand in order to be powerful. I learned from her (Hermana San Juan) that the only thing that changes people is love. She talks a lot about how only love can change others. We cant get mad at somebody, and expect anything good to come out of it. There is no satisfaction in arguing. There is only selfishness in your heart if you dont feel love toward somebody. Its a hard truth I have come to deal with on my mission. If I have bad feelings, or a bad opinion of somebody else, it is because I am being selfish, and judgmental. The easiest people to have bad feelings toward, are the people you know the best, and spend the most time with. I think its because Satan really hates love, because everything good stems from love, and so he tries to get you to hate the people that are closest to you. Its really, really difficult for him to do that though, only we can give him that power. It is so difficult for Satan to get us to dislike somebody we love, because love is literally the most powerful force in the universe. Without love the Atonement would not exist, God would never had brought us to this earth, and we would all live in a void of misery. We would still be intelligence, unorganized, and there we would have stayed forever. BUT! Love does exist, and because of its power, we have been brought here on earth so that one day we can return to live with God. Where did I learn all this?
