A little online sales primer from someone who sold new and used - TopicsExpress

A little online sales primer from someone who sold new and used video games online for years since some of your pitches are really weak. Rule#1 - when you list in a forum such as this as an individual seller, your games are not worth retail price. Not even close. You dont offer returns or warranties. As-is comes at a steep price. Also consider who has to drive, the inherent risk in meeting a stranger for a cash transaction, and that you are not a reliable retailer with whom I can just assume your product is legit and works. Give up on the big money on all but the most special or rare of finds. Special note: encourage people to clear you out by offering deals on bulk buys. You want to make more than $.66 on that old Madden game right? Throw it in for a buck or free even. Sweeten the deal to secure the sale. Rule#2. If youre holding out for a price, list that price.. Dont waste peoples time with make offer. We know what it is worth, So should you. To us make offer means youd rather have some cash (more than Gamestop value) instead of a game you dont play. And in return we expect to pay a little more than gamestop would offer.. Not a little less than what they charge, in that case wed just go to them for the convenience and reliability. Rule#3. Used is used. We dont care if it had been played only once. If its in good shape I dont care if it has been used once or 1000 times. New Is new. Unwrapped, never used once. Rule#4. If youre selling something you wish to be bought, pretend for just a moment youre a professional. Be on time, communicate a little before the meet. If you change your mind dont just go dark, say so, So we can relist. Rule#5. If you sell yourself short, expect to be lowballed. Sold my ps3 so I dont need these ps3 games anymore. We dont need your life story, To us that means the items youre selling are devalued to you. We assume youre here to clear them out, And you just gave the buyer leverage to say well hey you dont need them. So why even say it. In business you communicate only facts and figures. When, where, how much. Thats it. Theres a ton more Id say but these are the daily sins that keep you guys from making this place work. Its not gamestop or eBay. If you want to sell for that much list a price and be patient. This is an online garage sale the moment you ask for offers.. stop wasting each others damn time.
