A little over 40 years ago a new student transferred to Saint Paul - TopicsExpress

A little over 40 years ago a new student transferred to Saint Paul School of Theology. He was wild and crazy, wore red, white and blue bell-bottom jeans, a Grateful Dead black and white tuxedo jacket, untied tennis shoes and shoulder length hair. His name, Burr, was as unique as his fashion. This ol’ Oakie fell madly in love with the West Virginia Mountaineer. As our relationship grew deeper I realized that I did not have to marry this man. Just to know that someone this wonderful existed in this world was enough for me. Three months later we were married during a blizzard in Haddam UMC. A “list” person and a “serendipitous” person is a lot like oil and water. But we have loved one another since the day we met. This morning my Burr left for heaven -- first time he’s arrived somewhere before me! The three Crickard women live fully in this world with an eye to the place where more and more of our loved ones have gone. We thank our wonderful congregations we have served, our family and friends, our enemies, and our Lord for walking with us on this journey. Thanks be to God for my Burr. Services will be Saturday, April 12 - 10:00 am - First UMC, Valley Center, Kansas. Memorials to the Youth Ministry of First UMC, Valley Center.
