A little peak at whats to come for the November writing challenge. Gramzon felt a chill this evening peering tirelessly over the mountains and into the eastern region of Gerwulf. Something seemed amiss, something or someone seemed to cry out to him but he could not see it. Flying over the vast mountains and into the snow covered tundra and forests he sought the soul that seeked him. Alone in the dark with barely a campfire going say a human on the stump of a tree as Gramzon landed and peered from the forests to get a closer look and ear to what troubled this human so. The human sat huddled in a wolf fur that seemed to cover his face with its head, the teeth and eyes still appearing as daunting as ever as if it were still alive. The human clenched his axes hearing the great dragons movements in the brush. Gramzon feeling the humans gaze quickly shifted his form to match the humans. It was slightly uncomfortable to him and felt slightly deceiving but he really had no dealings with the humans like he did the dwarves who were his personal guards and servants in the mountain dwelling of Rumrigog. Gramzon stretched into his new form placing a bear fur over himself as he began to walk into the light raising his hands unarmed. The human stirred standing up tall and grasped his axes and readied himself. “Peace human. I mean you no harm” Gramzon sternly said. “Why do you stand here in the frigid cold? What compels you to place yourself in such harm?” The human scoffed. “Human? What manner of creature are you who comes boldly into my territory and refers to me as human as if I was a lesser being?” Gramzon glared. “Obviously a creature of great power that if I wished to see your harmed I would’ve done it minutes ago. Now, whom are you and why are you out here alone in the harshness of the weather?” The human let his guard down slightly. “I am Lagris. Lagris Argui and I came here to seek solitude and aid from our great dragon gods but I seem to have let them down. I believe we all have betrayed them.” Gramzon puzzled by the humans remark sat down across from Lagris. “What makes you believe this?” “My people, we worshipped and basked in the glory of the five until my former master made his dealings more about greed and power of his own than our ancestral ways. So much that he plotted with giants to overthrow our old home city of Vrentis and when I sought justice a plot on my life was made. They burned my home to the ground, and left my scarred for life.” Gramzon understood now why the wolfs head covered his face. However what appealed to Gramzon the most was how tenacious and stalwart he remained. A human almost after his own heart it seemed. “You’ve gone through many trials Lagris Argui, but your deeds have not been unnoticed by the gods or atleast one.” Lagris looked up at the man inquisitively. “What makes you so sure? I stand here in the cold with no home and rounding up what little supporters I can find to make my war against a corrupted chieftain and here I sit a shadow and broken.” Gramzon growled taking off his bear pelt cloak, Gramzons eyes glowing. “You will have your moment of justice Lagris, but you have one lesson you’ve not learned. Patience. To be the stout and stalwart defender it takes more than just heart, you must be patient. I can show you and gift this patience to you.” Lagris lifted his wolfs cowl just slightly to get a better look of the man. “Whom are you that is so powerful enough to teach these ?” Gramzon stood up letting some of his scales and horns show and immediately Lagris knelt. “My lord Gramzon. I apologize for my disrespect. I…cried out but I didn’t think you would…” “Actually show myself? On the contrary my companion. We may not be ever involving of the young races affairs but I assure you that our compassion is everlasting. I see your heart bleeds for your people, that they have suffered much at the hand of your masters evil. I only offer you the tools to do what is right Lagris as you have asked.” Gramzon opened his hands and placed a stone on the stump. “This will aid you in your fight when all hope would seem to fade and you feel your armies life essence fade, call upon it and they will aid you” “W-what is it my lord?” Gramzon smiled. “A very old runestone dug up by my servants. You carry the throws of the wolf and your heart beats with theirs. The spirits of the greatest pack will come to your aid, it is only right that a shaman of their heart lead them. I forsee in due time, you may not even need this old stone to do so, but you still have much to learn. Go with the tenacity of the pack and the stalwartness of my blessings Lagris Argui.” With a whip of the bear fur cloak Gramzon was gone into the air. Lagris stood up grasping the runestone and placing it in his pouch. He grasped his axes and began walking back to the camp with confidence. The time had come. His people would be free of his master once and for all. Lagris nodded to his second in command. “Sound the horn” The man nodded blowing the horn as the men mustered around Lagris. “Men. We’ve fought hard, we’ve pillaged his villages. The great Gramzon has spoken!” Lagris held up the runestone high into the air “Behold his great gift. The spirits of the wolf will guide us and aid us in victory!” Cheers and yells filled the air as a sudden dragons roar filled the sky. “It is time to end this! To Gerwulf! To Victory!”
