A little photographic journey for you all: Louis Le Prince - TopicsExpress

A little photographic journey for you all: Louis Le Prince recorded the first ever film, it is two seconds, see it below. (note - this was with a single camera that took several frames per second... as opposed to earlier motion pictures using several cameras such as the horse in motion by Eadweard Muybridge) On his way to demonstrate it in America he went missing, never to be found again (though over a century later a police archive was found to contain a photograph of a drowned man who could have been him). Shortly after his mysterious disappearance, Thomas Edison tried to take credit for the invention himself. Eight years later Edison brought a court case against American Mutoscope Company, and claimed that he was the first and sole inventor of cinematography. Adolphe, Louis son, was brought as a witness to argue that his father, Louis Le Prince, was in fact the first inventor... the court ruled in Edisons favour that day, but it was overturned a year later. Louis is now widely recognised as being the founder of cinematography - though who really knows, a lot of the time people are inventing these things all at the same time, its just a case of whos first to the post. However, as to the subject of his disappearance, I suspect foul play - not cool Edison, not cool atall. https://youtube/watch?v=nR2r__ZgO5g
