A little piece of my mind on Bulking Up. Im sure most trainers - TopicsExpress

A little piece of my mind on Bulking Up. Im sure most trainers and coachs will agree with this but im going to break it down just a little. When working with clients fatloss can go pretty quick, sometimes up to 2lbs per week (for a little while at least) bulking up on the other hand...If you gain 1 lb of muscle a MONTH that is just unreal. Break that down 1/4 of a lb per week, break that down further. Say you workout 4x per week and put on 1oz of muscle per workout, 4 workouts per week multiplied by 4 weeks you get 16, 16oz = 1 pound. That seems absolutely useless 1oz spread over your whole entire body... Constancy is so important, be patient and dont expect a miracle over night. Here is a good case study to fast track things. When I still played soccer in 2009 I was about 180lbs, fast forward to 2014 im 225lbs thats approx 45lbs of muscle in 5 years. My workouts have been consistent, my nutrition is always good, its slow but steady and the results show. Now look at the math of my 5 year journey... in about 5 years i put on 45lbs SO: 5 years x 52 weeks in a year = 260weeks 260 weeks x 4 weeks per month = 1040 WEEKS I have lifted Divide 1040 weeks by 16oz in 1lb and you get 65(lbs) I potentially could, have put on 65lbs, but I choose to stay lean year round, and every time I cut down a little bit I lose muscle (SMALLEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE) so as you can see in that 45lbs of muscle I put on I did it at less than 1lb per month and less than 1oz per workout, be patient when bulking up. The last note, every time you bulk up and cut down you lose muscle while you cut. If you bulk is too aggressive and you gain too much fat you will need to cut for longer and loose more muscle mass. Watching your nutrition while bulking is just as important or even more important than cutting in my opinion. Take you time, be patient. How things helped a couple people out :)
