A little post of animals seen out and about. Most of these were shot from the car window using MacGyvers patented pipe insulation support! #1 Deer in a wheat field near Princeton, IN. #2 Hunting dog pointing at doves in its own front yard on Old Henderson Road. Stayed that way for at least five minutes until the doves got bored and flew off #3 Warrick County pond. Cows are saying lets moo(n) the guy taking our picture! #4 Rare bird of some type spotted in Wisconsin - see what happens when you leave the tri-state? #5 & #6 - Horses on a hill near Petersburg #7 Friends near Howell rail yard #8 Turkey Vulture sunning wings - a lot of them do this near Yankeetown #9 Birds at sunset at Goose Pond. #10 (taken by Brian Wiggins) is my rescue cat Bubba (the one without the beard). It was going to be Jasmine until a visit to the vet said otherwise. Brian and I had been invited to photograph the barge loading facility at West Franklin. As the conveyor started dumping coal, a crewman saw something move in the ice encrusted water at the bottom. He climbed down and retrieved Bubba moments before he would have been buried beneath 1000 tons of coal. He was soaking wet and had ice on his legs from standing in the water and was coated in coal dust slime. First aid for hypothermia indicates that both the rescuer and rescue-ee should be naked to renew body heat. That aint happening with a cat, not to mention a bunch of Longshoremen standing around. I just turned the heat up all the way in the car and put him inside my jacket. After about two hours he started moving more. I keep cat food for times when I feed the Pigeon Bridge cats and he promptly finished off 3 full cans. It was Christmas eve and VHS was closed so somehow he became family. Now he sleeps 80% of the time, eats 10% of the time and craps or pees 10% of the time. At least the last two functions are in balance!
