A little red Mazda with a young blond woman behind the wheel strays oncoming into my lane, her gaze focused on something in her lower steering wheel region. Hmm. I wonder what. My first thought was, HOLY SH--!. Then came the cursing under the breath. Then what might have happened had there not been a shoulder on the road big enough to evade her. Then I remembered being of a certain age during which things that applied to most people didnt apply to me, such as the inability to drive normally after having only a few drinks. Other people couldnt do it, but I was perfectly capable. So, yes, the little %$#@ was taking my life in her hands because OMG LOL is more important at 40 mph than looking out of her windshield. But Ive been on the other side of that equation... My last thought on the subject was, I can think of thousands of more glamorous places to die than Canaan Road where the mink farm used to be. Got my tea, Genesis on the iPod. Its Friday Eve. Im still in one piece. Its a good day. Hope youre having an even better one.
