A local Grand Blanc lad has spent a good part of his summer cleaning up the trails at the nature preserve, The Commons, located behind the McFarlen Public Library in pursuit of his Eagle Scout award. The trails are passable again and the maps he installed help you find your way. We will post more about it soon, but for now ... get out there and enjoy his efforts. I visited The Commons this afternoon and listed 21 species of birds, witnessed interesting birding behavior, identified 17 different species of wildflower, etc. Oh, take insect repellents.
