A local fire ban for the Brisbane and South Eastern regions and parts of the North Coast and South Western regions will cease at midnight tonight (18/11/14). This applies for all fire bans that were imposed in the following areas: North Coast - Fraser Coast, Gympie, North Burnett, Cherbourg, South Burnett and Bundaberg. Brisbane and Surrounds – Brisbane, Redland, Moreton Bay, Ipswich South Western - Goondiwindi, Southern Downs, Western Downs and Toowoomba South East – Gold Coast, Logan, Scenic Rim, Lockyer, Somerset The worst of the fire conditions have passed for now and the fire bans will not be extended. Regular permit processes now apply. QFES wishes to thank the community for their understanding and compliance during the ban. At the peak of fire activity on Saturday, QFES were responding to 114 separate fires across the state and cooperation from residents was paramount in ensuring we could do our best to protect people and properties in the areas affected.
