A look back at 2013 and our mile stones and achievements: We celebrated the highest revenue in the company’s history in fiscal year 2013. In the midst of a federal budget cut and decreasing translation demand for the entire industry, wintranslation was able to diversify its revenue stream with our multi-language offerings and a healthy mix of private and public sector clients. We also achieved highest sales to the Government of Canada in the 16 years of operation, with our unique positioning of offering multiple languages, secret level security clearance, document safeguarding capabilities at our offices and a reputation for quality and reliability. We grew capacity in aboriginal languages of Canada significantly in 2013, winning mini contracts in Inuinnaqtun, and Inuktitut and stand-alone contracts in Plains Cree, Mi’kmaq, Mohawk, Swampy Cree, Oji-Cree, and Dene from the government of Canada and the City of Iqaluit. We also welcomed private sector clients who requested aboriginal languages such as Outcrop Communications, Nunavut Wildlife Management Board, and Environmental Resources Management. Project manager Sylvie Shen achieved her PMP designation (Project Management Professional) in 2013. Sylvie joined wintranslation two years ago and has been playing a key role in leading our technical innovations such as adopting memoQ, a server based translation memory technology and XTRF, a cloud based workflow management system. In 2013, we welcomed our first employee Linda Chhor into our marketing department. Linda Chhor is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Graphic Design and Interactive Multimedia program. She is creative, ambitious and full of the can-do entrepreneurial spirit. We are delighted to have her on our team. In 2013, our senior manager Felicia Bratu celebrated 10 years with wintranslation; her tenure is only exceeded by Sandra Bologna who returned from a one year maternity leave and celebrating 11 years with us. We are lucky to have a team with dedication and long service to our clients! Phil Walker and Ian Fafard, the latest members of our project management team also celebrated a one year anniversary with the company. Ian is also our French translator on staff. Interns from the University of Ottawa’s School of Translation contributed significantly to our translator recruiting activities. Jean-René Lavallée, Taylor Chamberlain, Janelle Gagné, Irene Mayer, and Azaëlle Elliott-Bouchrd were our 2013 interns. For the first time in the company’s history, wintranslation started providing after hours translation service in French to the government of Canada after winning a weekend and evening contract. We have a project manager and translator on duty Monday to Friday from 8 am to 11 pm and weekends from 9 am to 5 pm. In 2013, we moved into a larger, newly renovated office space located at 2197 Riverside Drive, Suite 602, Ottawa. As we settle into our space, we also converted some of our neighbours in the office tower into clients, such as PHE Canada.
