The Absa Premiership has gone on recess until February to accommodate for the 2015 African Cup of Nations taking place in Equatorial Guinea in January. Orlandopiratesfc takes a look back at what has been for the Mighty Buccaneers this year. Here are the highs and lows of 2014: January •26: Andile Jali leaves the club to join Belgian Pro League side KV Oostende FC. •31: Roger De Sa resigns as head coach. February •14: Orlando Pirates appoints Vladimir Vermezovic as head coach. •27: Lehlohonolo “Major” Majoro joins the Mighty Buccaneers from rivals Kaizer Chiefs April •25: After a year-long investigation into age cheating, the Orlando Pirates development academy reopens with two age groups – Under 17 and Under 19. May •14: Orlando Pirates finish the 2013/14 season in fourth place. •17: Kermit Erasmus scores a brace as Orlando Pirates came back from a goal down to edge Wits 3-1 in the final of the Nedbank Cup at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday. •18: Senzo Meyiwa & Oupa Manyisa finish the 2013/14 season having both played a record 51 matches in all competitions. •25: Orlando Pirates announces the signing of midfielder Issa Sarr from Platinum Stars. August •1: Captain Fantastic Lucky Lekgwathi renews his contract for another season. •5: Maggie Mosela Setlogelo, affectionately known as Ma Setlogelo - the staunch and loyal supporter of Orlando Pirates Football Club, passes away. •12: The Multichoice Diski Challenge is Launched. •27: Orlando Pirates defeat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 at Loftus Versfeld. November •1: Senzo Meyiwa is laid to rest at the Heroes Acre Cemetery in Kwa Zulu Natal. •8: Orlando Pirates fail to reach a record sixth consecutive final as they go down 2-0 to SuperSport United in the semifinal of the Telkom Knockout. December •3: Vladimir Vermezovic resigns as head coach. •4: Eric Tinkler assumes his role as caretaker coach, and will be assisted by Teboho Moloi. •6: Orlando Pirates lose 2-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter. •20: Orlando Pirates end the year on a winning note as they defeat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium courtesy of goals from Lehlohonolo Majoro and an own goal by Bevan Fransman. •30: Thabo Matlaba, Patrick Phungwayo and Oupa Manyisa are named in Shakes Mashaba’s Bafana Bafana squad which will compete in the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
