A lot of discussion is going on about the teenager who was stabbed to death. Most of the responses are along the lines of it was never like this when I was that age or what is the world coming to? Im typically not one to place blame, but this must be addressed. What has changed one generation? We have stricter laws, far more surveillance, and more police with advanced crime fighting tools? So, what is missing? The answer is simple, church attendance has suffered a steady decline in the past twenty years. That, along with a drastic increase of single parent homes, we are witnessing the beginnings of a cultural disaster. When I was a teenager, I, and everyone I knew, had guns, knives, homemade flamethrowers, etc. Yes, there were some people that I wouldve liked to take a shot at (a few still today), however the idea of being out of Gods favor and one day standing in judgment, is, and was, more than enough to quickly erase those thoughts. What do these kids have to fall back on today? If they dont have God to look up to where do they turn?
