A lot of our work in Hawaii relates to examining population structure, using a combination of genetics, satellite tagging, and photo-identification - a paper just out today on genetic differentiation of pantropical spotted dolphins in Hawaii, with evidence of three different insular populations, one around Oahu, one around Maui and Lanai, and one off Hawaii Island, as well as an offshore population.
