A lot of people I know have stopped watching The Simpsons saying - TopicsExpress

A lot of people I know have stopped watching The Simpsons saying thats its too pedestrian, or that it lacks fresh ideas. Today, I watched a DVRed episode (S 25, E 12, Diggs) and caught the following incredibly diverse references: NCAA bracket mania, the Kingdom of Moab, Sylvain Chomet, Goodfellas, Duncan Hines, George S. Patton, St. Johns Wort, The Sterile Cuckoo, Diogenes of Sinope, Papal Election Procedure (Habemus Papam!), Esperanto, Taco Night, Falconry, Verb Conjugation, Saturday Night Fever, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Paranoid Schizophrenia, The Korean War, H.P. Lovecraft, Alan Turing, Dr. Who, Kurt Vonnegut, John Knowles, James Joyce, Vladimir Nabokov, Thomas Pynchon (twice), the DSM-V, Star Trek (Original Series), Green Giant, X-Men, Talk Radio and Farts. So, I have to say, I still think Groening and Company havent run out of material just yet.
