A lot of people ask Ainash and I why we do this. Some of it is personal and words cannot describe it. For me Haruka is a personal thing. I kind of adopted Mirai in 2006, but what came with Mirai is one of her best friends who melted my heart in her own unique way. To this day at skating events I will always remove my hat for Haruka Imai and be the only American in the crowd yelling Ganbatte for her while holding a skating poster in Kana. She is kind and sophisticated, always looking a little deeper into the program, paying careful attention to detail in clothing-I often think of her as Audrey Hepburn of Japan figure skating. A lady on the ice and a lady in person-indeed Haruka is one of my skating children
