A lot of people complain about shoulder pain during bench presses and pushups... Now some people may have a legit injury, but often times it is caused by bad form. Flaring elbows specifically. No matter how wide your arm placement is, your elbows should always be tucked in and never be raise above your shoulders. Now the biggest thing is there is no biomechanical advantage to flaring elbows, you are not stronger, its harder to go through the full range of motion, and it only does harm. Flaring elbows often leads to elbow or shoulder pain, as you are essentially over stressing the joints and causing shoulder impingement. Take care of yourself, use proper form!
