A lot of people have asked me how Im voting next week. No union in this country has done more to consult their members on the Scottish Indendence Referendum, including holding a Scottish branch conference that decided on a PCS Informs, You Decide stance. PCS has used the debate to raise our alternative, winning concessions from the Scottish Government in the process. Scottish Left Unity voted to support and campaign for a Yes vote. Like any other activist I am free to state my opinion on any issue so long as I do so in a personal capacity. On that basis I will be voting Yes in the Referendum and urge others to consider so too. I am an English woman who has lived in Scotland for 23 years and I know a Yes vote is not a vote for nationalism but for an alternative to austerity. It is a vote for democracy and defence of the publuc sector, including the NHS, above corporate interests. Finally, I believe a Yes vote will send out a clear message across the UK - working class people can find their voice and an alternative and change are possible.
