A lot of people have asked me privately and in the game, and I did get some incredible news last night that is personal in nature, but Im going to share it here since you all walked this dark path with me one way or another. So here is my Miracle story from last night. A few months ago, my dad went into the emergency room with what we thought was a bowel obstruction. He came out with the diagnosis of Stage 4 kidney cancer, that had spread into his adrenal and lymphatic system. After some harsh diagnosis and life expectancy talks, my dad made the decision to have the growths removed and then live the rest of his life as it came, with no excessive measures. All of us kids were set to accept anywhere from 6 months to 5 years left for our dad, and were supporting him to do anything he wanted to to live his life how he needed and wanted to. The surgery that was supposed to take 4 hours turned into an all-day grueling event. We were told later that when dads surgeon went to work he saw a lot more than expected, and things were just a wee bit out of control, so he trusted his eyes and his experience and went into overtime. They removed one of his kidneys, a huge growth on the kidney, another growth that had encapsulated the kidney in his bodys attempt to isolate it, a lot more adrenal glands and lymph nodes than expected... lets just say Dads about 30 pounds lighter today according to him. Everything was tested as it was removed, and everything was sent to the lab. Everything. Not samples. The results that came back yesterday is that every single piece of tissue is isolated; there are clean cells around all the cancer. Theyve tested and retested, and they cant find anything malicious. It is nothing short of a miracle according to everything they initially saw and worked with. So who walks in with Stage 4 cancer and walks out cancer free? My dad. BAM. Miracle, any way you look at it, with some help from an unbelievable surgeon from Loma Linda University Medical Center and the equally unbelievable staff there.
