A lot of people have different reasons why they watch football, - TopicsExpress

A lot of people have different reasons why they watch football, some watch to learn skills from C Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar. Some watch to see their team win and give them bragging rights over other teams. Some watch to make sure they see the outcome of their 1960bet slips. Some girls watch to impress their boyfriends, or to admire handsome players. These and more are reasons why most people watch football. But the reason why I watch football is a lot different from these. I watch football to see teams celebrate goals, to see brothers hug each other, to see gladiators fight to finish, to see heros encourage one another. The spirit of football is the spirit of love, oneness, togetherness and sportsmanship. In football, religion and tribalism does not come to play. It is on the football field that a muslim will hug a christian with no iota of hatred just because a goal was scored. No matter how much you hate muslims or hausa people, on that day when ahmed musa scored those two goals against Argentina, I bet you didnt even remember that he was a muslim neither did you remember he was an hausa man, all that mattered to you was that he was a nigerian and he has scored.... That is why I watch football. Do you see how every member of a team rushes forward to confront an opponent because his tackle was rough? Do you see the oneness in them? When ifeanyi onazi was injured, did u see the speed with which musa rushed the french offender? Never did he think hes not a muslim so why should I be bothered? When a player falls to the ground, do u see how his teammates pull him up? As if to be saying you cant give up now, we cant finish this battle without you... Do u see how the players rush towards the goal keeper, kissing his head and tapping him on the back when he makes a superb save? As if to be saying Thank you for taking that bullet for us, thank you for making us look good. Or how they take the ball from his hand and cheer him up after he has conceeded a goal?..... That is why I watch football. The believe in David Luizs eyes, even when his team has conceded 7goals. The reason why they didnt leave the field after the fifth goal. Do you see a substituted player tap his replacement on the back as if to be saying Go in and do better than I did. The amount of shots the goalkeeper is willing to take for the team, the collective effort, the individual contribution, the determination and the collective celebration.... That is why I watch football. On that day when Nigeria scored that goal against bosnia in the world cup, even if shekau and Goodluck Jonathan was standing in the same room with a gun pointed at each other, I bet they would have brought down the guns and celebrated the goal not minding whether the scorer was a muslim or christian, a northern or a southerner..... That is the spirit of Football. Now, why cant we live like footballers? Love one another, encourage one another. How can we develop when we are always in crisis, families have become refugees in their country, no matter our differences, make Nigeria one. Lets stop fighting each other, let us live as one, it doesnt matter where you come from, your tribe or religion, man, woman, or child. It doesnt mater who we are, lets make nigeria one. My people, a house divided against itself cannot stand so says the holy bible. Just like in football, the strength of a nation is in their ability to stay together. LET US LIVE TOGETHER. LET US LOVE ONE ANOTHER. LET LOVE LEAD. #Henry###
