A lot of people look at the amount of money required to run for a national office [ Senator, President, etc. ] and get disillusioned with the whole governmental system. It is true that financing can make it hard for the common person to run for those offices, but keep in mind there are a huge number of local and state positions such as city council, state senator, mayor, etc. that the average person can run for with a modest investment. An individual committed to change can introduce legislation at a local level which can go national. Dont let the big budgets of national campaigns fool you. Regular people run for office and get elected all the time.
