A lot of people probably pay no attention to the red money collector that hangs below the window where you pay at the Mcdonalds drive thrus. I have seen it for years and sadly never paid any attention to it. All that money goes to the Ronald McDonald house. It is a very nice facility ran by nice christian people. It is located by childrens and UAB in Birmingham, plus others across the world. To stay at the facility you have to have a child in the hospital. They offer you a very nice room, they have food free for every meal. People come in and cook or they keep food in the cabinets that you can cook yourself. They have huge living rooms and a play yard for your other children. Free washer and dryers and its only 10.00 a day. Its so sad for some of the families that stay there, some have been there for months. Their children are fighting for their life, some with cancer, tumors, pre-maturely born, etc. Its a nice place for families to stay that live over 80 miles away from the hospitals. There is always a waiting list to get in. But they run strictly off donations. We were so blessed to get to stay there, if we wouldnt have gotten in we would have been paying 100 a night for a motel room while Chason was in the NICU. So please whether its just a little lose change or dollars that are laying around in your car please donate some money. You will gladly put 1.00 in a machine for your child to play a game. Why dont you give a dollar so someone else can be with their child in a serious time of need. I never go through McDonalds without giving some. You never know until your in that situation to realize how difficult and stressful finding somewhere to stay can be. I dont know what we would have done if it wouldnt have been for the Ronald McDonald house and god getting us in so quick. I called one day and there was 12 in front of us. They call back the day I was signing discharge papers and also it was my birthday and said they were able to get us in if we could come right then. Thank you lord! Just remember next time to try to give what you can to help these nice people and families out. ;))
