A lot of people talk about welfare reform and make comments about children and their families being on welfare. When I was in middle school I had this math teacher who was usually mean, I didnt do well in that class. One day during class the teacher looks directly at me and says no one who is on welfare will ever become anything. I beg to differ in that persons opinion. Sometime later, I was called into the guidance councilors office and told I was failing the math class, the councilor asked me what was going on. I told the guidance councilor I just wasnt understanding the math (Algebra) but, I didnt say what the math teacher had said about people on welfare. Heres my difference in opinion it doesnt or shouldnt matter if a childs family is on welfare, that issue should not be a judgemental outcome for any child. Its criticism and bad criticism at that, it all depends on what that child wants out of their own life in a career. A child can be belittled and keep their goals and dreams to themselves but that doesnt mean their not going to succeed. By the way I did pass that math class with a C, by doing almost three months work of math.
