A lot of praise has been heaped upon Pete Brunstetter since he announced he would be resigning from the NC Senate last year. Ive never met Mr. Brunstetter and he may be deserving of all the kind words hes received, BUT, Id bet dollars to pesos that most of those people didnt know about SB399! There will be an amendment to the North Carolina Constitution on the ballot the in November: Constitutional amendment providing that a person accused of any criminal offense for which the State is not seeking a sentence of death in superior court may, in writing or on the record in court and with the consent of the trial judge, WAIVE THE PERSONS RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY. SB399 passed the NC Senate 43-1 and the NC House 104-1. WHAT?!?! Only 2 of our representatives in Raleigh voted WITH the Constitution of the United States. SB399 was signed by Gov.
