A lot of rest and a little PT... The Fletchers have enjoyed a more family friendly accommodation in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) at Doernbechers. A padded bench to rest inside Jacks room to watch over their boy and be near him is a blessing! Jack did well today according to the surgeon. Well enough, that they decided to pester the boy a day after a 12 hour surgery! The PT was very impressed that Jack was able to sit up on the edge of the bed with his feet touching the ground, though he couldnt open his eyes and was eager to not perform much more and lay down again, lots of sedation working out of his system! There was some very real concern about Jacks right ring finger over the past few days as it has multiple black spots and concern of blood flow and there was a real possibility of losing the finger. BUT, there was comforting news today from the orthopedic surgeon - he said he feels the blood is flowing today after testing his finger nail by pushing on the nail itself and seeing it turn white and go pink... Phew!!! The black parts will most likely act as a scab and fall off and new skin will appear. John and Kelly feel he is in great hands tonight in PICU and are heading home for a good nights rest. Another good day!
