A lot of retail stores talk about customer service but how many actually deliver that to their clients? Today we had an elderly couple call into the shop here at Newton’s Stones Corner with an oven tray they felt needed to be replaced. They had moved into a new home and the oven tray was in very bad condition with a lumpy and crazed surface. We had already had a chat on the phone and we knew it was an odd size and would be difficult to replace so we asked if we could see it. It was from a brand no longer on the Australian market and as mentioned was an odd size so replacement was not an option. Luckily for the client the damage to the surface was the many Sunday roasts that the previous home owner hadn’t cleaned off properly and all that was needed was a good spray of oven cleaner. Now at this point Brian Watson who was looking after these people offered to clean the tray himself. So out to the car park he went with their tray, giving it a good coat of oven cleaner and then gave the tray a scrub and before to long the tray was spik and span again! I must admit we were shocked Brian knew how to clean an oven! I don’t think you could turn up at many retail stores and get your oven trays cleaned while you wait. While we don’t often have to go to this extent, we love our customers and at Newton’s you really are part of our family when you deal with us. We really do care about our customers and you’re never alone when you are part of our family.
