A lot of you are asking about HB 2580 to extend the film tax credit. It failed in the house today (48y-43n), but the same bill is being reconsidered (again in the house) in the next day or two. Many of you know I work at the Arts Council of OKC, but my husband works freelance in film/video sound. This rebate program is ESSENTIAL to our way of life and basically guarantees we dont have to move again after just moving back to Oklahoma a few years ago. Help us stay put!!! Help the growing (& super hard-working) local film/video crew stay employed and in Oklahoma. Just as we dont want our young creatives and artists moving to NY & LA, we dont want our film industry leaving either. Passage of this bill is key to creating an industry with a long term vision, not to mention adding yet another layer to our growing creative scene in this state. YES TO HB 2580! Its good for the arts & its good for the economy.
